Green Man Festival topographic instrument for Winter North Atlantic, graphics and programming by Joey Scully
Ed Carter is a musician and art producer. He is Director of Modular, and co-Director of Modular Projects (with Tom Higham), focusing on the creation, programming, and production of interdisciplinary artworks and events.
This includes a current project with the Owl Project called ‘Flow’, a floating, waterwheel-powered sonic artwork for the River Tyne, as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. As with much of Ed’s work, process, technology, and a collaborative approach are central to this site-specific project.
As ‘Winter North Atlantic’, he has released and performed music in a variety of contexts, including two studio albums, festival shows, a live cinema re-score project, a computer game soundtrack, a recent composition for brass musicians, and a site-specific composition for Green Man festival (with Joey Scully), which played the surrounding countryside as a musical instrument.
Ed has previously worked with a range of arts organisations and festivals across the country, and is currently a member of the steering group for Nine Dots, the Centre for Creativity and Learning at Sunderland University.
