Amy Owens is a visual artist and early career curator currently living and working in Middlesbrough. Her interests are in contemporary documentary and portrait photography. Amy’s current work focuses on the deep, emotional attachment the individual has to the location they grew up or call home. Inspired by nostalgia, Amy seeks to explore her own past by revisiting and recalling events of significance and fantasy. Working predominantly with film her images largely present a combination of innocent childhood moments and settings of her own memories and dreams. Amy’s artistic practice has shaped her curatorial path, this search for what home means to an individual has started to evolve into a broader conversation on making cities and towns home to vibrant, experimental arts communities.
