Angharad Jones (b.1989, Bangor), is a Welsh artist living in Newcastle Upon Tyne, creating dark portraiture, monochromatic works and experimental art exploring themes around identity and belonging.
Angharad creates large-scale introspective paintings that combine portraiture realism and abstract concepts to document past, future and community. She works intuitively, placing importance on process and visceral experience, be it through retainment or exclusion of colour, subject detail or texture.
The incorporation of sound into Angharad’s practice holds equal gravitas through her art performance and collaborations on dark ambient and musique concrète projects.
Her work has been exhibited in the UK and internationally, including Industrial Coast, Middlesbrough, Brooklyn Art Library, New York, and Imago Mundi’s Contemporary Artists From Wales Collection at Fondazione Giorgio Chi, Venice.
