My practice is rooted in an interest in storytelling. I work within and around the parameters of moving image; working with sound, photography, print, painting, text, performance and installation. The disparity between representation and experience, the body of an audience and that of the screen, the recording and the live event, a sound and its reproduction, the production of narrative(s) and how the constant viewing of digital images affects our memories and recollections of events, are dominant threads within my work. I aim to generate an awareness of how we perceive, communicate and filter experiences and information. To simultaneously suspend disbelief while being aware of the work as a construction, is a key aim of my art practice. I am also doing further research into the relationship between audio-visual media, psychoanalysis and the sublime experience.
