Catherine Walsh

I am 48 years old and a self-taught disabled artist, based in Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne, I produced my first piece of work using collage and painting) for the Nasty Women International Exhibition in 2018. I have continued producing art in different forms and on different platforms. I won a 3-day residency with the nasty women art prize. I also use performance art and an extension of that is my alter-ego Eric, a drag king which is so much fun, Eric won the King of the Toon at the Curious Arts vogue ball 2019.

I use drawing, painting and collage as a way to express my frustrations of my personal physical and mental health issues and to highlight the inequalities I see around me. My practice is very socially driven.
