Ciara Lenihan

My mouth moves. Sometimes it is twisting. Sometimes it is hissing. Sometimes it is licking.Sometimes it is drooling. Sometimes it is blowing bubbles. Sometimes it is agape. My mouth is an acrobat. It can backflip and flex into new shapes. It can be tangled up tight and it can be flaccid. When my mouth opens to speak, it can be confusing. My mouth has been searching for its language. It has tasted French, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, German and Dutch. In another life it was a linguist and translator. It is forked the tongue of a serpent. My mouth finds many tongues which are fit for different purposes; activism, story telling, transformation and trauma. The tongues in my mouth are Irish, English and Body. My mouth simultaneously spits out these tongues and gobbles them up.
