The Spaghetti Factory started in our house in Central Newcastle in April 2018 as a series of eight solo show exhibitions. The project has now expanded across the North East to include guest curation, workshops and collaborative programming. Now we work satellite, alongside other artists and art spaces.
The Spaghetti Factory is a grassroots project and is driven by artist support networks. We aim to work with artists at the start of their practice and show a range of experimental work that excites us.
Our current project is The Graffiti Map of the North East. Whilst galleries were closed during lockdown we decided to create a map of favourite graffiti in the North East. We want this to be a collective effort to catalogue people’s favourite pieces in the outdoor gallery we call ‘The World’.
We’re also working with Sunderland Culture/Sunderland Museum to programme three exhibitions and we’re part of the 2019/2020 NewBridge Project Programme Committee. Past projects have included working with System Gallery, GOLDTAPPED, Middlesbrough Art Weekender, BALTIC39 to programme exhibitions and creative pasta making workshops.
