A mixture of electroacoustic sonorities and programmed beat music, most of my recent work has been positioning myself as a composer in a constricted stereotyped space that is the arts and music world, externalizing gender and cultural assumptions from personal experiences, and submerging written stories with soundscape pieces. From a more solid musical basis that I am trying to expand into other areas, I use field recordings and found sounds from non-traditional places to sample them into my compositions. The samples of these sounds will be nothing like their original form. The recording of fire crackling will become some sort of note. The note will create a melody that is based on the nostalgia of what that idea of fire meant.
