I have worked as an artist for the last 20 years. My work concerns people and space and how our relationship to landscape is mediated though culture and history; how we negotiate the sublime, beauty and fear in modern life, often considering our human impact on the environment through post industrial and toxic landscape. My practice has developed across media, utilising photography and video and subsequently embracing sound and textiles. My desire to experiment with sound has led me to set up and run the Noizechoir experimental vocal group which has performed across the U.K. and Europe. Over the last 6 years I have increasingly incorporated a nomadic element to my work, developing a traveling practice with my family Making and sharing work in Bulgaria, France, Austria and the UK as a participant in the Nomadic village project and more recently completing the arts council funded ‘Nuclear Family’ a tour of the Uk Nuclear facilities. I make work that responds to location and community, engages with local culture and historical research to produce work with a wry humour and dark-edged reflection of modern life.
