My practice has in the past focused on textile work using sustainable dye practices, embroidery and sewing large pieces together using pieces of text in the process woven together with sound I produced. Now that I no longer have access to workshops I have returned to working with video again. I use video to explore language and often employ characters and visual symbols I have accumulated throughout my practice. Many of these images (both visual and poetic) are based on objects and knowledge I received from my grandmothers and other family. Because I mostly work with still images, characters and text, I love employing electronic sound as a way to animate my work. I am always interested in Ecology and find it useful as a framework to think around image/language. The agency of an image within an ecological context pushes me to think between poetry, symbols and objects in an organic way. For example, projecting family roles onto symbols and objects such as caregiver, child, ghost, pests.
