Fuelled by a love of evocative words and textiles; Louise celebrates vulnerability to create meaningful and deeply personal pieces.
Louise Brooke is a textile artist. Graduating in 2015 with a Fashion Design degree, and following a 10 year career in ecommerce, Louise returned to creative practice in 2025 to support her wellbeing and help process her partner’s diagnosis with Becker Muscular Dystrophy (a progressive muscle-wasting condition).
Centred around a love of words, Louise has two textile based practices. She makes bespoke velvet banners on commission for interiors, brands and events, finding resonance in the cherished words and stories selected to accompany meaningful moments. Alongside this, she scales up her intimate handwritten notes into banners to celebrate vulnerability.
Louise is inspired by the uniquely intimate relationship we have with fabric as a material, instinctively knowing how something will feel, its weight and texture. She is particularly drawn to fabrics which have a relationship with light – with a love of the light-reflecting properties of velvet in rich heritage-inspired jewel colours and silk organza’s ability to cast shadows.
