Megan Disken

I am interested in creating enticing and whimsical structures. Pylons, wires, streets, cranes and buildings have inspired wiggly and quirky forms and lines in my sculpture.

My practice uses drawing, collage, sculpture and video to explore my everyday surroundings as well as imagined characters, machinery and scenes. I enjoy experimenting across dimensions with materials, composition and humour which have built up my language of making. In my work, I explore urban spaces, architecture, the city and playgrounds.

I love playing with making and materials, especially turning solid and heavy material into flimsy and fragile. I enjoy creating illusions with textures that change with the viewer’s distance to the work.
