Our buildings are currently closed to the public whilst we move space – but we are still hosting offsite and online events.

Miriam Robson

Artist Statement:

I have a particular interest in both crafts and expressive, therapeutic arts. My initial studies were in design crafts, exploring woodwork, metalwork, jewellery, ceramics and mixed media. I then became involved in community arts practice, and from here I moved on to begin my degree in Creative Expressive Therapies, specialising in visual arts. During this period I explored the nature of my own artwork and the relationship between arts, expression and health, with a focus on grief processes. My work during this period experimented with textiles, natural materials, and dark room photography techniques, using very old cameras. I also developed my approached to working with people creatively and therapeutically. During this time I also started working for myself as a henna artist at events such as festivals and private events, and working with various groups and individuals. Having recently graduated I am currently focussing on developing my skills and knowledge in a range of areas including sculpture, textiles and printing. I frequently work with or in nature, and am developing ways in which to incorporate nature into my work, or to bring my work into a natural environment. My current aims are to continue developing my own work whilst running creative workshops.
