I consider my research-based practice to be multi-disciplinary, with a focus on experimental video and writing.
I choose to observe and explore the archival traces left by our collective pasts and study the non-figurative aspects, e.g. material culture, photographs – and my aim is to frame them in an alternative way from traditional sources, e.g. in official records.
Currently, my research is rooted in women’s experiences in social housing, inspired by both my maternal and paternal grandmothers. They grew up with only a few doors between them, in a social housing scheme in the 1930’s and 40’s in Perth, Scotland, that I then grew up in in the early 1990’s. I’ve been interested in their formative experiences in the changing landscape; literally, internationally, and politically.
