Steph Francis-Shanahan

I am a visual artist from London. My work focuses on collective emotions and the depiction of both personal and shared working-class experiences via a variety of cultural references including football and rave culture.

My practice discusses our collective experiences of joy and bodies as experiential beings///living sculptures. I completed an MA in Fashion Image at Central Saint Martins, UAL in 2020 and have made work with a variety of publications/brands/galleries including Aries, Vogue International, Open Eye Gallery, i-D, The Face, Barbican Centre, Dazed Digital, Season Zine, Bimba Y Lola and Elton John. I was a mentee of The Face X Moncler Future Academy and London Creative Network. I am also a recipient of the Space Studios Artist Award 2021. Teaching, running workshops and giving lectures is also part of my work having collaborated with the Barbican Centre, UAL (CSM, LCF) and My Yard. Self publishing is a key part of my work as I publish my own artist books which I have sold at Bound Art Book Fair 2021 and Wide Awake Festival 2021. They are also stocked at Village Leeds, Magculture, Books Peckham, Reference Point, Waste Store, Good Press and Kindred.
