Taryn Edmonds

Taryn Edmonds is an artist and filmmaker based in North East England. She works with moving image, photography and sound, weaving a documentary approach with installation and live elements to explore the socio-political relationship between people and architecture. Often drawing upon archived material and personal testimonies, her work considers overlapping narratives as framed by site.

Collaboration and the exchange of knowledge and dialogue is an integral part of her practice and she often develop relationships with other artists and non-artist groups to facilitate research as well as the co-production of final works.

Recent projects include Archive for Change, a collaborative film archive project exploring the effects of extensive regeneration on an urban community, and Linear Shift, a film and sound installation that considers the legacy of industrial architecture in the North East. Recent exhibitions and screenings have included Altered Spaces, Globe Gallery, Newcastle-upon-Tyne / This Is Not A Gateway Festival, London / Rencontres Internationales Paris/Madrid/Berlin.
