Zoë Carlon

Zoë Carlon is an artist based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. She makes paintings concerned with spaces that are simultaneously public and private; a cruise ship bar and the view through a metro window feature in recent works. She is interested in how these spaces, at first functional and often transitory, encourage a sense of isolation and solitude. Working from observation and memory, she creates a relationship between the interior and the exterior, exploring surface, depth, figuration and abstraction. Zoë studied at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts, Budapest and the University of Leeds, graduating in 2017.
