Chef-in-Residence

Tigist Tegegne is our current chef-in-resident.

Tigist is an author, chef, and former teacher from Ethiopia.

Currently, Tigist works as the Chef Coordinator at Dwellbeing and collaborates with The Big River Bakery. Alongside these roles, Tigist runs her own business, offering authentic Ethiopian food and coffee at the Quayside Market every Sunday.

In 2021, Tigist published her debut book in Amharic.

Kaltouma Hassaballah is a previous chef-in-resident.

Kaltouma specialises in Sudanese cuisine and caters for numerous events in the local community often working in collaboration with businesses such as Big River Bakery.

She also works for community co-operative Dwellbeing, where she leads a collective of local chefs made up from women who have moved to Shieldfield with similar experiences to her own. Kaltouma uses Henna, drawing, printing, oils and events as part of her artistic practice.

Hana Azahed is a previous chef-in-resident.

Hana is an artist and chef from Libya, based in Shieldfield.

Hana enjoys painting and drawing and grew up in the city of Ghadames, where she spent most of her childhood having fun. There, she learned traditional drawing practices. She is inspired by fashion, music, food, art, and architecture from Ghadames.
