Community Christmas Meal!

Cooking for us will be:

Kaltouma Hassaballah 

Kaltouma Hassaballah is a Sudanese chef and artist based in Shieldfield. She recently worked with us both taking part in, and shaping our new residency for local chefs. During her 6 month residency, she designed and created a traditional Sudanese smoke bath with local women and girls in the community and began a partnership with Big River Bakery who now sell her falafel.

Hana Azahed

Hana Azahed is a Libyan chef and artist based in Shieldfield. Hana first worked with us last year on the immersive exhibition on traditional Libyan culture, Ghadames, Pearl of the Sahara. Hana has done educational talks for children on art across local Arabic Schools and will be undertaking the next Community Chefs residency with us.

Tigist Tegegne

Tigist specialises in Ethiopian cuisine and runs her own coffee and food stall, Rekebot Ethiopia Newcastle which is regularly at Newcastle Quayside Market!

‘Over the past few years, I’ve been an active member of this community. I derive great pleasure from cooking, as well as from engaging with diverse individuals, engaging in discussions on various topics, and gaining knowledge from our conversations.’

(The Four Cafe are doing a Christmas Party from 10am – 1pm if anyone wants to do a Christmas meal / party crawl through Shieldfield!)
