Crepes and Crits!

Cruise down to the NewBridge Project on Pancake Day for your annual fix of quick crepes and cracking crits. Fresh crepes served from 4pm; crits begin “Antiques Roadshow style” from 5pm, so please bring any creations you’ve been tinkering with. Prepare for an evening of ALL GAS, NO BREAKS!

The event will be in the co-work and gallery space (convenient if you’ve got some work in the Shieldfield Home Pt2 exhibition).

Come along to a) eat pancakes b) share some art c) get an inside scoop on other people’s art-making.

The format will be:

4pm – 5pm: arrive, socialise, eat pancakes. Sign up for a crit if you want one (we’re taking ‘crit’ to mean ‘conversation and feedback about something creative someone has done’).

5pm onwards: a team of ‘plants’ (specially selected conversation-starting people) will lead discussions about whatever you have brought, Antiques Roadshow-style. Everyone else gathers round making up the audience, joining in the chat and creating that ambient hubbub. 8pm – go home.

You can bring anything artistic, hobbytastic, creative, be it polished or rough and ready. You can set the agenda for how you’d like people to talk about the work, eg “I’ve never shown this to anyone, please be kind” or “I’d like some feedback specifically about my brushtrokes”.

Physical objects will work best, including sketch books or photos of stuff too big to haul in, but we’ll also have a TV and maybe even the cinema room set up for moving image/digital works. You might even want to share some work on your phone. We can also discuss invisible things like “ideas”.

NOTE the number of people bringing stuff will dictate the amount of time we have to chat about each person’s stuff. Several simultaneous ‘stations’ will be set up so multiple chats happen at the same time. You can come and go or drop in but signing up for a crit will be first come, first served.
