Eid al-Fitr عيد الفطر

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, marking the revelation of the Qur’an to the Prophet Muhammad. Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, practicing self-discipline and empathy with exemptions for children, the elderly, the sick and people travelling. The fast is broken with suhoor (pre-dawn meal) and iftar (post-sunset meal) often starting with dates and water. Beyond fasting, Ramadan is a time for increased prayer, community service and Qur’an recitation. It concludes with Eid al-Fitr, a joyous celebration of family, gift-giving and charity.

رمضان هو الشهر التاسع في التقويم القمري الإسلامي، ويمثل نزول القرآن على النبي محمد ﷺ . يصوم المسلمون من الفجر إلى غروب الشمس، ويمارسون الانضباط الذاتي والتعاطف، مع استثناءات للأطفال وكبار السن والمرضى والمسافرين. يُكسر الصيام بالسحور (وجبة ما قبل الفجر) والإفطار (وجبة ما بعد غروب الشمس)، والتي تبدأ غالبًا بالتمر والماء. بعيدًا عن الصيام، يعد رمضان وقتًا للصلاة المتزايدة والخدمة المجتمعية وتلاوة القرآن. ويختتم بعيد الفطر، وهو احتفال بهيج بالعائلة وإهداء الهدايا والصدقة.
