NewBridge Books is pleased to announce the first edition of our Reading Room project: a platform for creative responsive thinking that uses the NewBridge Project Space programme as a starting point to discuss wider issues in contemporary culture. Designed to extend upon and explore some of the ideas behind our exhibitions and events, the project creates a space for browsing, reading and critical exchange.
In collaboration with AV Festival 14, NewBridge Books presents a curated selection of publications that respond to ideas around the theme of extraction, investigating the transformation and exploitation of raw materials and how this is explored within literature, critical texts, art writing and artists’ books.
NewBridge Books is a shop and social space that is unique to the region in offering diverse, original and hard-to-find books, zines and art writing from independent publishers and artists who self-publish. Through a dynamic programme of regular discussion groups, talks, screenings, performances and meetings, NewBridge Books provides a stimulating context in which to exchange ideas. NewBridge Books is located at 14 Newbridge St West, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 8AW. Opening Times: Tue – Sat 12pm–6pm, closed Monday and Sunday.
