Create/Disrupt Lower Ground Floor studio, The Shieldfield Centre
Join Create/Disrupt in their lower ground floor studio at The NewBridge Project for an experimental pop-up show of individual and collaborative work. The show is based around the idea of approaching art making as a form of play. How does the creative process unfold if you reimagine the rules of the game every time, let go of control and forget about the intended outcomes? How does being immersed in play enable collaboration? We’re not sure, but we will have fun finding out.
This exciting exhibition coincides with the opening of our winter show, Shieldfield Home, which exhibits and celebrates work made in or by people in Shieldfield!
Create/Disrupt is a new programme for artists, aspiring arts workers, makers and producers who have not had formal training or undertaken a degree and are interested in pursuing a career in the arts.
The first cohort of Create/Disrupt members consist of diverse artists from across the North East with a shared desire to become arts workers. Create/Disrupt is for artists and aspiring arts workers who have not been to University or had formal training.
We launched this development strand in 2020 and started working together to co-create a programme of activity that reflected the interests, hopes and desires of the group. This has included research trips to national arts organisations, advocacy work within the sector, training and development opportunities that match the needs of the artists on the programme and began building a community and network of atypical arts workers.
