Over the past 2 days they have been making experimental new art works and sharing ideas and learning. New works will be presented across multiple artistic disciplines and at various stages of completion, across both Carliol House and NewBridge Gateshead.

Playground
Escape into the exciting chaos of a dynamic group of fresh artists. Immerse yourself into a lively and adventurous space, beyond the everyday. This experimental exhibition showcases the diverse body of work produced by all first year Fine Art students at Newcastle University. Our studios have become a playground for our emerging art practice which we will use to transform the basement of Carliol House. Displaying work across a range of mediums, approaches and disciplines this eclectic collection of artworks will draw your eyes in every direction.

The NewBridge Project: Gateshead

(6-9pm)

Join us at The NewBridge Project, Gateshead, on Saturday 18 May to see work by local born artist Andrew Maughan and works-in progress by members of The Collective Studio, Embassy’s GRAD JOB programme.

Return of the Great Assassin
Join us at a special late-night opening of Return of the Great Assassin, a solo exhibition by artist Andrew Maughan. See a series of large three-dimensional paintings that depict a character names ‘The Great Assassin’, inspired by the Zodiac Killer, a real-life murder mystery that has spawned endless conspiracy theories. They combine oil paint with fake fur, glitter and three-dimensional elements, and parody the way fear is used in politics and mainstream media as a tool to manipulate the public.
