Working as a freelance creative can be tough – competing for commissions, feeling isolated in your creative workspace and often with little security in zero-hour work. How can we look after ourselves and each other while staying creative and paying our bills?
Let’s Talk About It is a 90 minute workshop where people who are balancing creative work, paid work and looking after their mental health can start a conversation with each other. Elina and Grace will draw on a history of radical care to introduce some key principles of peer support and ideas about how you could use them in your own work and life.
Tickets are free and participants will receive a zoom link on the day.
The workshop last 90 minutes, officially starting at 6:30pm. The room will be open from 6:15pm to give time for people to settle in.
If you have any questions or accessibility requirements, please email Beatriz, our Programme Coordinator: beatriz@thenewbridgeproject.com
Grace Collins and Elina Flyrin are artists who also deliver peer support training. They’re investigating how we can work together as freelance artists in an industry that often values competition over collaboration and productivity over preservation.
Blazing New Worlds is a programme of commissions, events and workshops at The NewBridge Project which celebrates its 11th Birthday. Throughout the programme we released a series of open calls and funding opportunities, commissions by the artists Graeme Hopper (Grassi Art) and Cassie Thornton, and a residency with Slack’s Radio.
