Celebrate the launch of Living in Solidarity booklet with 151 Housing Cooperative and Food & Solidarity and hear about the work they do!
The booklet has been made to share the ideas and conversations that shaped a series of workshops at The NewBridge Project that focused on housing and community action.
Illustrator and NewBridge studio holder Jim Spendlove produced a series of illustrations to harvest the shared knowledge and experiences from the workshops. The illustrations are presented in the booklet alongside photographic documentation and posters co-created in one of the workshops.
The booklet will be available to buy, with donations going towards both organisations. A pay bar, via card, will be available during the event.
Food and Solidarity is a non-profit, democratic, member-led and run organisation based in Newcastle upon Tyne. They utilise direct action to improve the material conditions of our members. They work in areas including housing, food, immigration and social services.
151 Housing Cooperative is a diverse group of people that love the North East and work, play and make in Newcastle. Not everyone in the 151 Housing Cooperative wants to live in the cooperative and are instead driven by there being more cooperative housing in the city. They are in the process of identifying and buying a home for some of its members.
Our building has lifts to the gallery, accessible and gender-neutral toilets, baby changing and breastfeeding facilities and two accessible parking bays. You can watch a walkthrough of our building and learn more about accessibility here.

This event is part of our current exhibition For Solidarity: Document H.E.T., Alternative Publishing and Community Undercurrents, an exhibition of pre-internet printed matter and ephemera forming a backdrop for a public programme on solidarity today.
