join us at the newbridge project : gateshead on the feast of saint valentine’s where some gentle celebrations of love will take place through performances by artists ciara lenihan, gobscure and sarah li. beautiful subversive prints by SWAG (sunderland women’s art group) will be on display along with a wide range of refreshments like barrys tea and edible treats which have crafted with love by purpletasteofmind. free love hearts for all.
the event will be BSL interpreted, and the space is fully accessible to wheelchair users.
this event accompanies on rose carved in rain, an exhibition at the newbridge project : gateshead by self-taught artist, performer and writer gobscure.

ciara lenihan is an artist and activist based in newcastle upon tyne. their practice explores decolonisation of the body and the self through performance, bilingual writing and moving image. as an activist they are an active member of ACORN community union, working together with the people of newcastle to improve living conditions for all.
dao (disability arts online): ‘artist immersed in a wide variety of art-forms, whose work continues to defy pigeon-holing crossing visual, performance, literary and digital art forms with ease and uncomforting elegance. An abiding concern within his work is the disconnect between hierarchy and human rights. he is also capable of writing and producing arresting theatre that cuts to the quick.
both ciara and gobscure are part of the newbridge project’s programme committee 19/20.
sarah li will be performing ‘dallesandro, dallesandro’ a twist on romantic admiration from the perspective of a non-binary pansexy sexual. using test footage of joe dallesandro, sarah will be performing a dance routine as an ode to joe, a porn star, actor and gay icon.
