More Than Meanwhile Spaces II – Launch Event

Wed 14th October 2020

Please join us as we celebrate the end of More Than Meanwhile Spaces II, a collaborative project that looked at long-term futures for artist run/led initiatives and artist workspace in the North East of England, using the Creative Enterprise Zone as a model for discussion.

In this event we will summarise the project, and identify key outcomes and challenges for the future. We will then hear from our VIP guest Leila d’Aronville, with some space at the end of the event for discussion, suggestions, and future relationship building. Leila d’Aronville is the founder of Tyne and Wear Cultural Freelancers CIC who are dedicated to putting Freelancers and Independents at the heart of the conversation. Leila will talk about her work through Cultural Freelancers, the wider sector and a little bit about an OPEN approach to sector support and development.

You can now download a PDF copy of the More Than Meanwhile Spaces II report here.

How to Attend

If you would like to come along to the launch event (or pop in and out) please fill out the following form: We will then send you a link and password to access the event. There is also an option here to receive a print copy of the report in the post, although this is on a first come first served basis only (and may take a while as they are still being printed).

If there is someone you think might like to be part of this conversation, by all means feel free to share the website, report and this event info with them. All are most welcome, and we look forward to seeing you.

The Project

More Than Meanwhile Spaces is an ongoing, collaborative and transdisciplinary project that explores long-term futures for artist-run initiatives and workspaces in the North East of England. Organised via a flexible working group, it has involved (to date) two Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funded projects run by a core group including academics from Newcastle University, the University of Northumbria, The NewBridge Project, and Newcastle Council.

You can find out more about the team and the project on the More Than Meanwhile site.
