Join artist Sara Qaed to explore the question: “How to open a conversation with children in Schools about Palestine?”
This special discussion event will be hosted by artist Sara Qaed and feature lead voices from across the community who have been invited to explore ways of introducing conversations about Palestine within schools.
Sara Qaed will utilise some of her imagery as a catalyst in the conversations and you will be welcome to take away posters which she has prepared for the event.
You can join in with the debate or simply listen and contemplate thoughts raised in the talk.
Light refreshments will be provided.
Sara Qaed is a UK-based artist from Bahrain. She is a mother, Illustrator, and Social Artist. Her works encompass various mediums including collaborative drawing, experimental animation, collage, wearable pieces, editorial cartoons, and things in between. With a strong sense of social and political criticism, her works explore the language of drawing as a daily practice to document and archive news with a sense of black humour. Her cartoons are displayed on multiple platforms such as, Al-Hudood Satirical News Website, Roman Cultural Magazine, and Tanween Media. In 2019, Sara won Ibn Rushd Prize for Freedom of Thought for caricature and Mahmoud Khuhail award for Editorial Cartoons.Her latest work can be seen as part of Khaleejesque Magazine “DIY: Fear Print” (2019), New Writing North (2020) and “Windows” project with Art Diamond members in Gateshead (2021).
As part of the MOTHEROTHER exhibition, open at The NewBridge Project until 10 August 2024, Sara Qaed is showing a series of drawings which interrogate state violence, corruption, power, and mothering in times of genocide.
