Co-Act is a new artist development programme for socially engaged artists and artists working at the intersection of art and community practice, supported by Jerwood Foundation.
If you have some experience of socially engaged art or community practice and want to take the next steps, this is the programme for you.
The programme will support two, early-career artists to develop collaborative and socially engaged ways of working. Over 18-months you will learn new approaches and methods; critically explore your own ideas, processes and practice; and dig into the politics and ethics of working within communities and with groups of people.
Tailored to the needs and interests of the two selected artists, the programme will include regular meet ups, workshops, peer-led learning, and opportunities to shadow experienced artists, alongside wrap-around support from an artist mentor and NewBridge staff.
Each artist will be paid of an artist fee of £5652 and supported to develop a new artwork or project, which you will have the opportunity to make public towards the end of the Co-Act programme. You will be supported to get to know the context in which NewBridge works, building on this groundwork of collaborative, community-led and socially engaged activity.

This is a hybrid event and will take place both online and in-person.
If you opt to attend remotely, a member of the team will contact you on the day of the workshop with a Zoom link and more info about the session and a digital code of conduct. If you attend in-person, a member of the team will direct you where to go.
