“..
Well
I got my reasons why I still believe in you

You’re my cry of wonder
there’s no doubt I need you.
Love is talking to me whisper sweet things in my ear
Chain to chain reaction if you pull I move along.
You’re my will and pleasure never felt so good
so strong.

Precious little diamond
I leave it all to you
Precious little diamond
let it come to you.
Precious little diamond
I leave it all to you
Precious little diamond
crystallizing you.
Still I got my reasons
won’t you talk to me

You’re a precious diamond – baby
stay with me.
As you’re coming closer
pressure disappears

Baby. take it over. everything’s so clear”

Earlier this year back in native Poland, I found a book curiously entitled Contemporary Treasure Hunters, slightly out-dated, considering its first and only release was in the 1970s. Documented as a collection of stories, the book builds a map of treasures deeply buried, it is hand drafted and has been passed from generation to generation.

Just as hunters, photographers are always searching for treasures, either for the sake of looking at objects or searching for new aesthetics and ways of capturing objects. Camera, tripod and flash are tools equivalent to the archaeological spade, brush and scup. And at the very moment a photographer’s eye captures through lenses they are akin to the death of that moment. What defines the treasure is not measured in gold or silver, the aim of a photographer’s search often have unexpected results, and become aesthetically valuable.

Precious Little Diamond : Photo Treasure Hunters is an international group exhibition which explores the ways in which photographers aim to discover aesthetic ‘treasures’ through mapping and exploring their surroundings. The exhibition playfully explores this theme, by placing the photographer and audience as ‘treasure hunters’.
