Join us in the park to hear more about Staking Claims on the Distance, the three artists we commissioned through the project, and help decide which proposal should be immortalised!
Back in March, The NewBridge Project commissioned artists Mickey Fenton, TOTALLER and Esther Gamsu to design a piece of public furniture that acts as public gathering space and monument towards the future. Presented through an online exhibition, the three artists have shared their ideas and proposals for the public’s consideration.
For the ‘Second Phase’ of the project we now want to hear from you about which proposal should be selected and executed into a real-life public artwork.
To help us with this decision we want to hear from as many people as possible, and we will be hosting an open conversation on Saturday 31 July (12-3pm) at City Stadium Park, Newcastle. This will be a laidback, outdoor gathering and an opportunity to chat through any feedback or preferences you might have on the proposals by the three artists. Members of The NewBridge staff team, the project’s instigator Eve Cromwell will be gathering on grass – so grab some snacks, a cold brew and come join us!
Remember, you can find an introduction to each artist via our website, and the full proposals on an exhibition site custom-built by Eve Cromwell. The site also provides background on the project, Eve’s research, and links to related resources.
12-3pm
Location: City Stadium Park, Newcastle (beside the concrete and steel River Tyne sculpture)
