As Sci-Fi’s wild predictions of the future ground to a halt, meeting the reality of the technological age, the techno-thriller surfaced..

Films stemming from this genre entered mainstream cinema in the nineteen-eighties and nineties, like Jurassic Park, Terminator and presented a plausible and fearful future based on dense scientific fact.

This pessimistic view highlights the volatile relationship between the real and representational worlds.
