Visual AIDS: A Day With(out) Art with Dr. Fiona Anderson – Offsite Visit

The NewBridge Project will be closed to the public on 1 December 2023. Instead, we will be attending Visual AIDS: A Day With(out) Art hosted by Dr. Fiona Anderson at Newcastle University. We invite you all to attend as part of The Reading Room Programme.

 

About the event: 

Visual AIDS is a contemporary art organisation dedicated to raising AIDS awareness and opening up a dialogue about HIV issues today. They support HIV+ artists through producing visual arts exhibitions and projects. A day of mourning and action that uses art to respond to the ongoing HIV and AIDS crisis, Day With(out) Art encourages museums, universities, museums, and art institutions to present related programming on or around December 1, World AIDS Day. Because AIDS is not over!

Dr. Fiona Anderson, senior lecturer in Art History at Newcastle University, will be proudly partnering with Visual AIDS to host a A Day With(out) Art at Newcastle University (Fine Art Lecture Theatre, King Edward VII Building). For the 2023 edition Visual AIDS presents Everyone I Know is Sick: five films that make connection between HIV and other forms of illness and disability.

The program features new work by Dolissa Medina & Ananias P. Soria, Dorothy Cheung, Beau Gomez, Kurt Weston, and Hiura Fernandes & Lili Nascimento.

We will meet in NewBridge Books at 11.15am and walk over to Newcastle University, Fine Art Lecture Theatre, King Edward VII Building together.

Alternatively, you can meet us at the event location at 12pm.
