Create/Disrupt is a development programme at The NewBridge Project for aspiring artists and arts workers who have not been to university and live in the North East of England.
Applications now open for our Create/Disrupt 2024 cohort!
Create/Disrupt builds a community, offers professional support, free studio space and artist mentoring for those who have been historically marginalised from professional, creative opportunities.
It provides a creative community who co-create the activity and involves workshops, artist mentoring, field trips, exhibition opportunities and socials.

No, applicants for create/disrupt must not hold a degree in any subject. This is a requirement of our funder (Tyne and Wear Combined Authority)
No, It is a requirement of our funder that all participants have a North East postcode.
Yes, artists with a specific discipline can apply but we also encourage people who want to experiment/ learn new skills, artforms and what different careers in the arts can look like. Please be as detailed as possible in your application as to what your hopes and interests are.
We usually meet on Tuesday evenings 6.30-8.30pm so applicants are advised to keep this slot free for 12 months but we understand that you may not be able to make every week. There will be some activity that occasionally takes place on weekends too.
Workshops, mentoring, materials, socials, field trips and all programming is fully funded as is rent for 12 months in the shared studio space at NewBridge. There is a fee of approximately £30-40 that individuals are required to pay for personal liability insurance that will grant them full membership upon induction for their time on the programme and using the Create/Disrupt studio.
