Cultural Strike for Palestine

We are writing to let you know that we, the entire staff at The NewBridge Project, are joining the Cultural Strike for Palestine, called by the Mosaic Rooms, this Friday 31st May.

The NewBridge Project will be closed to the public, and staff will reinvest their labour through sharing resources and coming together in solidarity with people in our communities.

The Mosaic Rooms have written a statement that we want to share and we urge our cultural partners and friends to consider joining the strike tomorrow.

“As we witness the violent destruction of a whole society in Gaza and the horrific recent attacks on Rafah, we, the entire staff at The Mosaic Rooms, are calling on all UK and international arts and cultural colleagues to strike this Friday 31st May. The Mosaic Rooms will be closed.

We believe that to continue operating in a world where this is allowed to happen is unconscionable and unacceptable. We invite our colleagues to join us in our strike action and use your resources to pressure your government to call for a ceasefire, cease arms sales to, and implement sanctions against, Israel, and demand the end of the Israeli occupation. We encourage you to speak to your organisation, call out its complicity, whether through its funders and benefactors, or lack of visibility and censorship for voices in support of and from Palestine.

We also ask you to listen and learn from your communities, give them space and time to gather, discuss and grieve.”
