For a second year, we have worked closely with artist Andrew Wilson to support a small group of artists travelling to Paradise in Nantes, France, to undertake a Learning Exchange Residency (LER).
Learning Exchange Residency offers time, space, and resources to build connections, develop ideas and encounter alternative approaches to thinking, making and doing.
From May to July 2026, NewBridge members Niall Greaves, Noize Choir (Marek Gabrysch and Lindsay Duncanson) and Izaak Gledhill presented work developed during the Learning Exchange Residencies (LER).
The residents produced and exhibited new work as part of a co-curated exhibition, featuring a newly published book by Niall Greaves, audio, video and sculptural works.
Noize Choir hosted an experimental workshop, inviting participants to explore extended vocal techniques and discover the group’s innovative approaches to sound-making. They also staged a live gallery performance celebrating the work created during the residency.
Izaak Gledhill premiered Adam & Steve, an immersive comedy theatre show set in a post-apocalyptic pub. As Adam settles in for one final quiet pint before whatever comes next, Steve bursts through the door. Blending humour with heartfelt storytelling, the performance explored themes of forgiveness, identity and upbringing.

The Learning Exchange Residencies are organised by Andrew Wilson in partnership with Paradise, Nantes (France), and The NewBridge Project, Newcastle (UK). Paradise is an artist residency programme based in the centre of Nantes, curated by artists Béatrice Dacher and Michel Gerson.
