Ginny Reed closing party & launch of NewBridge Off-Site at The Late Shows

Saturday 17 May 7-11pm

For this years Late Shows we’ll be hosting the closing party for Ginny Reed’s solo exhibition, ERROR_GRACEFUL_DISCONNECT with a selection of firework themed cocktails. We will also be premiering NewBridge Off-Site – look out for it on the streets of Newcastle!

NewBridge Off-Site will be showcasing artist publications that explore processes of communication. Starting off on Northumberland street and popping-up in unexpected locations around Newcastle, this satellite project will act as an interactive pod, providing new spaces for reading, thinking and conversation.  Pop in for a chat and take part in a live communication between NewBridge Off-Site and The NewBridge Project.

ERROR_GRACEFUL_DISCONNECT by Ginny Reed explores ‘the loop’ in digital technology, examining the ways we receive and digest information through digital reproductions.

Our online world is characterized by repetition; from GIFs, vines, memes, instant replays and samples, a culture that saturates and bombards the senses, providing no option other than to consume everything ‘all at once’.

Reed works across various media to create an installation that reflects our sensory engagement with the digital world. Audio & Visual material appropriated from animation and video footage is looped, collaged and programmed to reflect how we interact with the invisible sub-structure of data that permeates our lives.
