The hyper banality fan club is interested in being thoughtful about the apparently thoughtless, in celebrating and/or critiquing the mundane, and basking in subjects that others consider blasé. The hyper banality fan club likes lanyards, carrier bags, Pot Noodles, Instagram scrolling, battenburg cake, Henry Hoover, inexpensive wigs and friendship bracelets.
The hbfc was conceived of by artist and NewBridge Associate member Zara Worth, who is joined by Founding Members Katrina Cobain, Jill McKnight, Emily Speed, David Steans and Dr Dawn Woolley. hbfc is currently inviting interest from other artists whose practice connects to the idea of the hyper banal. The hbfc is looking for ten artists at any stage in their career to join our temporary network. Artists do not need to have previous formal art education, but do need to consider their practice to be critically engaged.
