Artist-curator Dan Goodman joins The NewBridge Project as Communities Producer!
Dan will shape and deliver our Neighbourhood Programme in collaboration with NewBridge members, community groups, residents, and partners. He’ll be supporting new longer-term projects that invite people to come together, connecting the many communities that form in and around NewBridge. Alongside our dedicated Community Facilitators Jackie Wood, Hana Azahed, and Kaltouma Hassabalah, Dan will continue to hold space for our regular activities in Shieldfield, including Coffee Mornings, Saturday Socials and Memory Cafe.
“I’m super pleased to be stepping into the role of Communities Producer at The NewBridge Project. Having been a long-time collaborator, former The Collective Studio member and Programme Committee member, in many ways this also feels like a real coming-home moment. A lot of my recent work as a freelancer has centred around the people and organisations in Shieldfield and this feels like a continuation of that with the backing of an organisation I am proud to be part of.
I’m really looking forward to working with the staff team, alongside neighbours, studio holders, local groups, artists, and residents – building programmes together that are rooted in Shieldfield and the people that live, work, and play here.”
Dan is an artist-curator based, working across exhibition-making, facilitation, and collaborative projects that foreground co-production and access. As part of the 2024-2025 NewBridge Programme Committee, Dan led on “Open” Open. This exhibition brought together over 120 artists – including studio holders, members of Shieldfield Youth Programme, community chefs, and Forum Café visitors – many of whom had never exhibited before. This was an extension of his wider curatorial practice that focuses on ‘holding’ space rather than ‘filling’ it – supporting others and building the conditions for people to contribute on their own terms.
