We’re excited to announce that Nathalie Boobis, Aishah Coyte and Naomi Kinghorn have joined NewBridge’s Board of Trustees.
Collectively they bring lots of expertise and enthusiasm to our small and engaged Board, who support and care for our organisation, team and work.
Nathalie Boobis
Nathalie is a disabled and neurodivergent curator, currently based in Newcastle. Since 2025 she has been Curator at Disability Arts Online and leads their new accessible digital gallery space, dis_place, where she curates exhibitions and commissions works that foregrounds intersectional disabled perspectives. She is also a Curator in Residence at Arts Catalyst as part of the DASH Future Curators Programme, and is a part time access support worker in the arts sector.
She was previously the Director of Deptford X, a visual arts organisation and annual festival in South East London, from 2018 – 2024. Having originally trained as an artist at the University of Brighton, she got into curating through artist-led initiatives and independent projects, and studied for an MFA in curating at Goldsmiths. She has held a curator role at SPACE, worked as a junior fellow at Goldsmiths with the curating department and at Goldsmiths CCA.
Nathalie said “The Newbridge Project has been on my radar for a long time and an organisation that I have much admired, and looked to as a thought leader in my past work as a director. Having recently moved back to Newcastle, I am even more keenly aware of the importance of NBP to the city’s, and wider region’s, art ecology. I am delighted to have the opportunity to join the board of trustees and contribute my knowledge and skills to its continued success.”
Aishah Coyte
Aishah is a public health doctor working across the North East. Prior to moving to Newcastle, she worked as a clinical doctor in both Australia and Scotland.
Having worked in some of the most deprived regions in the UK, Aishah is passionate about reducing health inequalities. She has a particular interest in improving health outcomes for socially excluded populations who experience multiple risk factors for poor health.
She has a background in conducting health-based research and believes that community-led research is vital to ensure services deliver what communities truly value.
Aishah feels that creative health is an important and often overlooked tool for improving health and wellbeing. She believes that improving communities’ access to creative activities can ultimately help to reduce inequalities.
Naomi Kinghorn
Naomi brings extensive experience in strategic partnerships, funding, and community‑focused programmes. Her career spans the heritage and environment sectors, where she has championed collaborative approaches that unlock resources, strengthen local capacity, and support long‑term place‑based change.
Naomi is Head of Investment North for the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Naomi is passionate about empowering communities to shape the places where they live and work, ensuring that investment leads to sustainable, meaningful impact.
Naomi said, “I’m delighted to be joining The NewBridge Project as a Trustee. I’ve admired their bold, community‑centred work for many years, and I can’t wait to play a part in shaping the next chapter of their future.”
