Document H.E.T. (Hollow Earth Transmission) is a collection and study of pre-internet printed matter and ephemera by artist and designer Niall Greaves.
“HOLLOW EARTH TRANSMISSION is a document, a signal, an excavation. H.E.T. exists to uncover the stories and printed matter of the UNDERGROUND before Web 1.0. We DIG through lost publications, marginal movements, and forgotten NETWORKS to trace how the past still pulses BENEATH the present WORLD.
The name is a distortion, a play on the WHOLE EARTH catalog, a hippie primer for alternative living and countercultural intelligence, and to the mythic idea of a hidden INTERIOR world.
The Hollow Earth appears as an ALTERNATIVE realm, sealed off, speculative, resistant.
In science fiction, a UTOPIA; in myth, a REFUGE.
We are not here to predict but to learn. We look to DIGGERS and dreamers, dissidents and drop outs. The exploration of INNER and outer technologies to enhance the collective consciousness of EARTH 1.0.”
