Listening and Learning, A Social Impact Report

Listening and Learning was written in collaboration with researchers from Newcastle University, the report draws on the reflections of a wide range of voices, including Shieldfield-based organisations and residents, NewBridge-based artists, local authority officers and councillors and NewBridge staff.

NewBridge has aimed to create a space where people can come together to work, learn, socialise and support each other since moving to Shieldfield in 2021. Listening & Learning articulates NewBridge’s role in addressing challenges in the area, including the lack of youth provision and social isolation, as well as connecting local people with creative activities and developing their skills and confidence. The report shows NewBridge as a key part of the Shieldfield ecology, an active collaborator among a strong network of local organisations and spaces. It also sets out NewBridge’s hopes for the future and the potential for further and deeper impacts in the long term.
