The Reading Room: Abundance

Published: 11 June 2026 Author: The NewBridge Project

The Reading Room has worked with artist and choreographer Lizzie Klotz and designer Bethany Wells to create a reading resource, in response to Abundance, a new installation from Lizzie, Beth and community neighbours in Shieldfield.

“The trick we need to learn collectively is holding myriad different cities, different bodies, different paths open all together. We need to defend the right to play, to pause, to dream, to be creative.”

– Morag Rose, The Feminist Art of Walking (Pluto Press)

Abundance is a new sculptural installation made by artist and choreographer Lizzie Klotz, designer Bethany Wells, and a host of collaborators from NewBridge’s neighbourhood programme. You are invited to walk, lie down, rest and be held in the space, connecting to the feeling of abundance – however that might be accessed in your body – through moments of stillness, play and reflection. Explore a curated selection of books that reflect the exhibitions’ themes and ideas, these books are available to borrow from The Reading Room.

Visit us at NewBridge Project to borrow a book or read in our small library space, or download your own PDF copy of our the Abundance reading list.

About the Reading Room

The Reading Room is a collaborative project opening up local spaces and providing a wealth of educational tools which will be a catalyst for creative thinkers and critical minds. Our physical library space can be found on the first floor, next to the gallery, and is stocked with thought-provoking books from Pluto Press and Left Book Club.

The Reading Room programme brings together artists, authors, and researchers to host workshops, screenings, and talks inspired by the books housed in the library. These events, guided by our communities, address topics such as the environment, LGBTQ+ issues, structural racism, and more.

Our collection of books continually expands with suggestions from exhibiting artists and the NewBridge Programme Committee.
