The NewBridge Project : Gateshead
FREE – Please reserve a space here
Join Rene McBrearty and Jill McKnight for an evening of food and a discussion that will explore the themes of their current exhibition. In their work, themes of hidden histories, work and labour are considered from the perspective of the women in their families. Food is central to these themes, so vegan curry, rice and peas, and refreshments will be served during the event.
As part of this event, you are invited to bring along a photo, story or object that reveals a hidden history that you would like to share. Your contributions will be a starting point for an open discussion around the themes of the exhibition.
Rene and Jill will record and use these contributions to make a zine after the event. All contributors will have the option to receive a copy of the zine and be credited.
The event is free but please reserve a space so we can make sure we have enough food.
Rene McBrearty and Jill McKnight’s exhibition is part of Life in a Northern Town, and can be seen at The NewBridge Project : Gateshead until Sunday 9 September, every day between 10am – 6pm.
