Meet and discuss your work with Alessandro Vincentelli, Curator of Exhibitions and Research at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art. These visits are a unique opportunity to discuss your work on a one-to-one basis with a curator, helping you to develop new ideas and direction, and to gain perspective on your practice, the context and concepts underpinning it.
Biography
Alessandro Vincentelli is Curator of Exhibitions & Research at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead, where he has worked for more than 10 years. During this time he developed and curated solo exhibitions with artists Elizabeth Price and Steve McQueen amongst many others. He collaborated with the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven for the David Maljkovic exhibition Sources in the Air, staged at BALTIC Gateshead in 2013. He curated They Used to Call it the Moon in 2014 and The Curves of the Needle exhibition at BALTIC39. He has recently curated the group show Disappearance at Sea – Mare Nostrum, continuing to 14 May, looking at the European refugee crisis and the journey taken across the Mediterreanean Sea. He has also curated the current exhibition with Rodney Graham: That’s Not Me at BALTIC continuing til 11 June. He is curating a major exhibition with Jasmina Cibic in 2018.

If you are a member but not a studio member of The NewBridge Project we will provide a space in the building for the visit.

This event is programmed as part of Practice Makes Practice, an artist development programme run by artists for artists. Practice makes Practice focuses on developing artistic talent and equipping artists with the necessary skills to manage their practice, bridging the gap between art school, studio practice, the gallery and beyond.
