I am a full-time practice-led PhD candidate currently researching at Northumbria University in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. I work within the charity sector with emphasis on vulnerable young people and adults affected by loss. My studio practice navigates a personal and traumatic grief with use of photography: drawing on the misuse of, and manipulation to, the media and machine used to create it. In this way I focus my work on the accidentals and impossible spaces within — indexical ghosts of trauma. This reflects and informs my work ethic and values, meditating on the liminal spaces between reality and memory and the perceptions in which we process our understanding of the world. I run workshops, sessions, talks, and lectures challenging our cultural understanding of loss, death, and dying.
