I predominantly work in performance with a focus on playful interaction. I often work with sport teams and change the rules of the game – using performance art as a tool/method to create a ‘new order’ or ‘new’ meaning in the world. My practice has to do with investigating the liberating possibilities of play in contrast to the rule bound formalities of sport. For example, I will join a team, learn the rules of the game and then, with the team, change the rules to create a new game in the world – a question I often pose is what would this game be if winning were not the primary objective? I am interested in the process of collectively learning through play as a performative process in-itself and using this to destabilise hierarchies and blur/breakdown binaries.
