Lois Batty

Lois’ practice derives from her interest in the preservation of brutalist architecture in the UK and Europe. Within her work she aims to challenge aesthetic preferences by using colour and shape as a juxtaposition to the brutalist architecture it is placed alongside.By using images the artist has captured herself alongside archival images; Lois’ practice is able to create an aesthetic conversation between the audience and the work; this challenges the mundane-ness of Post-war architecture in the modern era.

Lois has recently shown work in the I.O.U.A.E “Is This Real Lyf??” exhibition, York Open Studios, Illuminating York and is set to show her work as part of the student showcase at Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
