Polina & James have been working collaboratively since September 2018, based on a continuous discussion on the frameworks of the anthropocene, contemporary technology, Russian Cosmism and the visual language that surrounds it. Polina studied History of Art in Berlin, Zurich and Edinburgh, whilst curating contemporary art projects in both Switzerland and Scotland. She is interested in the gendering of the Anthropocene and its repercussions on everyday political discourses, as well as in the role of subjectivity and power relations in the writing of history. James is a graduate from Glasgow School of Art and Edinburgh College of Art. His artistic practice is intertwined with research and has recently taken the form of video works. He is interested in the relationship between nature and science, the tropes of anthropocene and space exploration, as well as in digital growth algorithms.
